Kansas City Day 1

After flying for what seemed like forever yesterday, an uneventful change in Minneapolis, and being picked up by Andy and Delia in Kansas City International, I am now in Kansas City for the next two weeks.

My body clock is on five pm but apparently it's ten to eleven in the morning. We went to a chinese buffet thingy last night and I ate ginger prawns, beef and mushrooms, spring rolls, deep fried chicken and some lovely unidentified meat at about ten in the evening here - about 4 in the morning for my body clock. Then I went back to the house, got acquainted with the cats (Onion and Tulip...go figure), who every now and then jump on the bed in the night (they did only once last night, and I chucked him off...) and fell asleep. I woke up roughly every couple of hours but that was ok.

The house I'm staying in seems to acccommodate about 15 people, although I know that in reality only 5 live here. They all seem to be really nice, all doing different things but all went to IHOP at one point or other before now. At the moment it's very confusing, but I'm sure all will become clear.

Breakfast was a smoothie and a coffee and lunch will probably be at the cafe.

Monday to Wednesday is their monthly fast, but I'm relieve to find out that it's on the basis of "don't ask, don't tell". Wha-hey :-)

Long time...

...no type.

I am in the process of writing my second essay, which is due in tomorrow. I don't think I've ever cut it this thin, or been this busy. And whilst things are going on all round me and inside me, I seem to be finally getting my priorities right - and essays are not on top of that priority list, I've discovered!

Priorities are:

Time with God
friends and family
enjoying the day to day little gifts - a sunrise, a smile etc
and maybe essays...down the list of priorities
together with preparatory reading
and class attendance.

Don't get me wrong, I still do all these things (prep reading, class attendance etc) but really - there are more important things in life. And if the more important things in life take over, then so be it. After all, the most important things I learnt this first year in ordination training I haven't heard in the classroom, but in conversation with people, whilst sharing lifes, laughs and tears. I've grown a lot this past year, not in the least in learning that grades and 'making the grade' is really not as important as some might make it out!
